BBQ Season!

Well, it seems the weather has finally held out long enough for the men to whip out their gear – BBQ gear that is! With all that testosterone flying about, its no wonder we ladies prefer the quiet sanctuary of the cool umbrella shade, sitting around the table just catching up and sipping on our long, cold drinks.

Now what would two veg*an girls possibly enjoy at a BBQ, I hear you ask. To that I would reply, the world is our oyster, or would that be our tofu…..?!

Where to start? Salad always goes down well and I do love my secret recipe potato salad made with egg free salad cream and onions with the addition of my ‘secret ingredient’ to finish it off. A well constructed green salad filled to the brim with loads of different flavours and textures like avocado, bean sprouts, olives and cherry tomatoes finished off with fresh crisp lettuce really tantalises our taste buds!

For those veg*an’s who like something a little more substantial, wrap a pierced potato smothered in olive oil & garlic cloves in foil and place it within the belly of the fire, thus producing a delicious tasty feast by the time all the BBQ-ing is done. In addition, I would suggest using the same method on a few portobello mushrooms smothered with vegetable spread, minced garlic and a sprinkling of herbs & spices for extra flavour. These of course can be slapped onto a bread roll for that ‘burger effect’ or eaten just like that, whichever way you prefer them!

Of course, nobody is stopping you from buying a few veggie burgers or sausages to place on the grill itself. However, with all those bits of meat flying about coupled with the high testosterone levels, who knows how veg*an your veggie bits will be by the end of it?!?!

Enjoy the rest of the BBQ season and bon appetite, whichever way you prefer to have it!

Veg*an – this could mean vegetarian or vegan.

New Designs...

So with the massive popularity of the treehugger design, which was printed on the silky soft and naturally sustainable bamboo tees, our minds were racing to add some new designs to the range.

With new black and white t-shirt colours now added, these new sample designs have incorporate some funky bright prints to brighten up the summer days.

Of courses we have come up with a number of new ideas, but we can't decide which ones we prefer!!! To help us choose we ask you to please vote for your favourite design/s on the panel on the right.

Keep sight of this blog, as we will announce the new designs going into print at the end of July and we will post a competition on our website to win one of these new tees. We will also make sure they are available to purchase in our shop from early August...

Strawberry Addict

So summer is finally here, Wimbledon has been and gone and Strawberry season is upon us... I am so very happy.

Why, because I love strawberries... Mmmmm. Thats not to say that I can't have them at other times of the year, its just that they are so expensive and not of the best quality, so instead I wait until the strawberry season draws round and I binge on them then. The best part about this is that my lovely other half doesn't much like them, which for a change leaves more for me!

So why would I decide to go on so much about strawberries?

Well for starters, I have recently purchased my own strawberry plan
ts. Only two small ones, but all the same I can't wait until they eventually fruit. I have been putting in time and TLC with their little green leaves, trimming them and rewinding the runners round into more suitable positions on my window ledge, and then to my happiness last week they started to flower.

I know I am gushing like a broody mother hen, but I am so happ y. Its so fantastic that they have made it this far and not even died in the first week. I must point out t his is a massive achievement for me as I DON'T have a green bone in my body. The last plant I tried to grow died on me, which wouldn't be so bad accept it was a cactus and they are supose to be hardy! On top of that I even managed to kill off my hubbys herb garden while he was away on business for a week...

So to my delight, I woke up this morning and took to checking on my little plants to fine the small flower heads have now dried out and are turning into fruit. Oh joy, hopefully soon I can celebrate as my little green buds, will turn into sweet delicious red fruit... Mmmmm.

By the way, all this talk of strawberries has given me an idea for a new 'limited edition' design for the little ones. Its called Strawberry Addict. I will post it for sale in our shop tonight. I hope you like it!

· Favourite Colour: Red
· Favourite Food: Anything Vegan!

I am a Sales & Marketing Assistant, having worked in administration my entire career. Three years ago I made the life-changing decision to become vegan and haven’t looked back since. I feel healthier and look great – so my family & friends say anyway!

Since finding out I am expecting my baby boy – AKA bump, scrote, little pink foot – I’ve started thinking more about getting involved with a venture which I would enjoy while also benefiting the planet and encourage others to follow a more environmentally conscious lifestyle. Jody came up with LoveCow and approach me about joining her venture – all of this before I had even told anybody that I was expecting, so it came as if sent! We have only just started out but I have already learnt so much and am looking forward to all the challenges as well as the satisfaction which comes from working with people who share my common interests and beliefs.

About Me

I am a graphic designer, a vegetarian and a wife to my loving husband Shaun. Having worked as a graphic designer for almost 10 years in the printing industry, I see everyday the impact that advertising and media has on our environment. From the endless supply of brochures, business stationary and other sales items that are discarded by the consumer everyday to the impact of commercial printing with the harmful chemicals in the inks and the manufacturing of 'cheap' garments in third world countries, I knew something just had to be done.

LoveCow seemed like the most logical solution. I wanted to focus on small production runs of environmentally produced clothing. All the items are 100% organic and sweat-shop free. On top of this I have used only water based inks which are free from harmful chemicals and I have ensured that the garments are hand-printed. I have kept the packaging minimal, and when I do have to package an item, I have made sure that only recycled materials are used.

Having grown up on a farm, I understand the important role that the environment plays in our life. It is the centre of all that we are, and by preserving this we are paving the path for future generations to come.
